You wouldn’t believe me,
sitting where I’m sitting now seeing
what I see from the top of Stormer’s Cove --
Merrymouseland’s second most popular attraction
adapted from an antiquated cartoon featuring a rum-
drunken pirate with conspicuously human cargo and
a monochromatic, chattering Toucan named Rococo,
but it’s true: Once upon a time, this sprawling,
tetanus-filled wonderland was paradise.

Welcome to the merriest little place on Earth! ™
greeters would sing with forced grins at the gates,
to which happy plastic families would flock dropping half
a year’s salary to soak up state-of-the-art attractions.

For adults, it was a place to voila the world simple again—as though it ever was.

For kids, it was a place to be themselves, back when this was still legal.

...before the War of Seven Lambs took that from us
and so much more.
